Also, it’s so plain. There are no accents, no bling, no designs. Not that I have a problem with a simple dress (or I wouldn’t have bought it!) but again, it wasn’t great enough to justify the Josh Kennedy West Coast Eagles football retirement shirt and by the same token and price. Mostly, I just wanted to be done shopping, so I bought the second or third dress I tried on. Oh well. Hopefully there are a lot of fancy galas and benefits in my future, and I’ll be able to get some more wear out of this dress. My high school prom dress. It cost $150 (USD) and my mother paid an extra $50 to have it tailored. In the grand scheme of prom, it’s not that much. I didn’t spend much money on anything else. My dad and I got shoes for $20 off the clearance rack. I picked up my earrings and necklace at Walgreens for $10. I literally found my hairpiece on the ground outside of school. My mom did my hair, nails and make-up. I was dead set on having an orange dress. I loved orange clothing and felt special because so many people can’t wear the color, but it looks good on me. Now, I wish I’d picked a different color. My prom was in 2011 and I have had absolutely zero opportunity to wear the dress again. My best friend picked up a dress for $50 online and has been able to wear it to weddings and other formal occasions since then.
